Job summary

Profectus is seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer to support a large-scale transformation for an Australian Government agency. You will coordinate delivery across multiple release trains, workstreams and technology teams in partnership with the Solution Train Engineer and senior program leadership.

The role requires extensive SAFe experience, governance and risk management skills, and a proven ability to engage executives.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years leading large-scale government transformation programs.
• Experience in SAFe or similar scaled agile delivery environments.
• Proven business design and systems implementation experience.
• Experience in highly regulated government environments with governance requirements.
• Strong executive-level stakeholder management.
• Experience facilitating large planning events like Program Increment.
• Knowledge of program and portfolio management disciplines.
• SAFe RTE or STE certification and Agile/Scrum/Lean certifications.
• PM/PMBOK or MSP/Prince2 background.
• Change management expertise such as Prosci.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate delivery of a large-scale program under SAFe.

• Lead Program Increment planning and other large-scale planning events.
• Manage cross-stream risks, issues, and blockers across multidisciplinary teams.

• Track delivery progress and report metrics to governance forums.
• Ensure alignment with business design, operational change and tech delivery through to implementation.
• Support governance and enterprise architecture requirements.
• Engage executives across business, operational and ICT areas.

Job description

Profectus is seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer to support the delivery of a large-scale transformation program within an Australian Government agency. The role coordinates delivery across multiple release trains, business workstreams and supporting technology teams, working in close partnership with the Solution Train Engineer and program leadership. The work covers Program Increment planning, dependency and risk management, delivery reporting and stakeholder engagement at executive level.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate delivery of a large-scale program operating under SAFe
• Work alongside the Solution Train Engineer to align release trains and manage cross-program dependencies
• Facilitate Program Increment planning and other large-scale planning events
• Manage cross-stream dependencies, risks, issues and delivery blockers across multidisciplinary teams
• Support integrated planning and delivery coordination across multiple releases and business workstreams
• Track and report delivery progress, metrics and outcomes to program leadership and governance forums
• Keep business design, operational change and technology delivery aligned through to implementation
• Support compliance with government governance, assurance and enterprise architecture requirements
• Engage stakeholders across business, operational and ICT areas, including at executive and senior executive level
• Identify and apply process improvements across release trains and delivery teams

Required Experience

• Seven or more years leading large-scale government transformation programs
• Extensive experience operating in SAFe or comparable scaled agile delivery environments
• Proven experience in business design and systems implementation
• Experience working within highly regulated government environments, including government governance and assurance requirements
• Strong stakeholder management capability at executive and senior executive level
• Experience facilitating Program Increment planning and large-scale planning events
• Demonstrated understanding of program and portfolio management disciplines
• SAFe Release Train Engineer or Solution Train Engineer certification
• Agile, Scrum, Lean or equivalent certification
• Program management qualifications such as MSP, PRINCE2 or PMBOK
• Change management certification such as Prosci or equivalent
• Relevant tertiary qualifications

Security Clearance Requirements

• must be an Australian Citizen
• must have an AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance
• An active AGSVA Negative Vetting Level 1 clearance (preferred)
