VicRoads Registration and Licensing Services (RLS) in Melbourne seeks a Release Engineer to plan, coordinate and execute software releases across enterprise platforms. You will work with DevOps, Engineering and QA to ensure efficient, reliable deployments in a governance-driven environment.

You will drive environment readiness, automate release pipelines, and maintain documentation while collaborating with multiple teams to deliver high-quality services used by Victorians.

Formación

• Baseline Security Clearance eligibility is required.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and business teams.
• Advanced Jira and Confluence proficiency with workflow automations, notifications and reporting.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure).
• Tertiary IT/CS qualification or equivalent experience/certifications.
• Experience in software release, deployment or DevOps roles within Agile environments.
• Strong CI/CD pipeline and version control experience.
• ITIL/DevOps certifications are advantageous.

VicRoads is progressing too. In August 2022, we started on a new chapter when the Victorian State Government partnered with Aware Super, Australian Retirement Trust, and Macquarie Asset Management to operate registration and licensing services on its behalf.

We work collaboratively with the Victorian State Government to ensure we fulfill regulatory requirements, deliver State projects and safeguard customer data. The Victorian State Government retains sole responsibility for road access, infrastructure and safety.

• Lead the coordination and deployment of software and infrastructure releases across a modern Agile and DevOps environment
• Work closely with Engineering, DevOps, QA and Product teams to deliver stable, high-quality releases that support critical services used by millions of Victorians
• Utilise CI/CD pipelines, release automation, cloud technologies and enterprise tooling, with Jira, Confluence, AWS and Azure experience highly desirable
• Due to the nature of this role, applicants must satisfy the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.

About the Role

At VicRoads, we're transforming the way customers interact with our services through innovative digital platforms and technology solutions. We are seeking a Release Engineer to join our Technology team and support the planning, coordination and execution of software and infrastructure releases across our enterprise platforms.

Reporting to the Manager Release and Deployment, you will play a key role in ensuring releases are delivered efficiently, reliably and in line with governance requirements. Working within Agile delivery teams, you'll collaborate with DevOps, Engineering, QA and business stakeholders to support environment readiness, deployment execution, release automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support software and infrastructure releases across Agile delivery streams
• Execute deployments across non-production and production environments, including version control and rollback activities
• Work with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure environment readiness throughout the software development lifecycle
• Contribute to the development and improvement of CI/CD pipelines and release automation practices
• Maintain release documentation, governance controls and change records
• Monitor release performance, identify risks and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

About You

You are a collaborative and detail-oriented technology professional with experience supporting software releases in Agile environments. You thrive in fast-paced delivery settings and enjoy working across multiple teams to ensure successful outcomes.

To be successful, you will bring:

• The ability to satisfy the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to build consensus and drive outcomes across technical and business teams.
• Advanced proficiency in Jira and Confluence, with demonstrated experience designing and implementing workflow automations, notifications, approvals, custom field logic and reporting solutions.
• Exposure to cloud platforms including AWS and/or Azure
• Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant industry experience, training and professional certifications.
• Experience in software release, deployment or DevOps-related roles within an Agile environment
• Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools
• ITIL, DevOps Foundation or similar certifications is highly regarded
• Experience within large-scale, complex or regulated enterprise environments will be advantageous
