MetLife Australia is seeking a detail-oriented Reinsurance Accountant to join the Finance team in Sydney. You will manage overseas and affiliate insurance transactions, perform cash and accrual accounting, and lead reconciliations with reinsurers and internal partners.

The role concentrates on accurate financial reporting, settlements, and governance preparation while leveraging tools like GRDR, PeopleSoft and Alteryx. A collaborative, high‑performing environment awaits.

Qualifikationen

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in financial accounting, reconciliations and month-end activities.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated initiative, accountability and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
• Confidence using AI-enabled productivity tools to support research, analysis, documentation and day-to-day work, with a commitment to using these tools responsibly.

Aufgaben

• Process and account for overseas and affiliate insurance business transactions in accordance with established procedures.
• Perform cash and accrual accounting activities using GRDR and PeopleSoft.
• Prepare and process commission accruals, settlements and related accounting entries.
• Obtain and reconcile bordereaux statements from reinsurance partners.
• Monitor outstanding balances and proactively follow up on settlement activity.
• Prepare and analyse monthly commission charges payable on MetLife products.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and perform balance sheet reconciliations.
• Complete bank reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
• Reconcile GRDR balances to the General Ledger and resolve variances.
• Partner with Client Services, Accounts Payable and other stakeholders to resolve processing and settlement issues.
• Prepare supporting papers for governance and credit control forums.
• Generate valuation and statistical reporting data using Alteryx.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve controls and enhance operational efficiency.
