Fonix Logistics is the dedicated transport provider for Reosteel, operating a modern fleet of heavy vehicles from Casula, Sydney NSW. We are seeking a qualified Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team and support reliability, safety and uptime across our operations.

You will service, diagnose and repair heavy vehicles and trailers, perform scheduled servicing and respond to breakdowns in a safety-focused workshop.

Qualifikationen

• Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
• Experience maintaining heavy vehicles and trailers
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Strong commitment to workplace safety
• Excellent attention to detail and time management
• Reliable, proactive and professional attitude

Aufgaben

• Service, maintain and repair heavy vehicles, trailers and associated equipment
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults
• Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications
• Complete inspections and defect repairs to maintain roadworthiness and compliance
• Maintain and repair vehicle loading cranes (Hiab/Palfinger experience highly regarded)
• Respond to vehicle breakdowns when required
• Complete maintenance records and service documentation accurately
• Work safely in accordance with WHS legislation and company procedures
• Support compliance with NHVR, Chain of Responsibility and Heavy Vehicle National Law requirements
• Contribute to Reosteel's Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001)

About the Role

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, you'll be responsible for maintaining our fleet of heavy vehicles, trailers and vehicle loading cranes to ensure maximum reliability, compliance and uptime.

Working within a safety‑focused maintenance environment, you'll carry out scheduled servicing, diagnostics, repairs and breakdown response while contributing to the ongoing reliability of our transport operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair heavy vehicles, trailers and associated equipment

• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults

• Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications

About You

You're a trade‑qualified Diesel Mechanic who takes pride in producing quality work and understands the importance of keeping a commercial fleet operating safely and efficiently.

Essential Requirements

• Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic

• Experience maintaining heavy vehicles and trailers

• Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding skills

• Current unrestricted driver's licence

• Ability to work independently and within a team

• Strong commitment to workplace safety

• Excellent attention to detail and time management

• Reliable, proactive and professional attitude

Highly Desirable

• HR or HC Driver Licence

• Experience with Volvo, Scania, Mercedes‑Benz or Isuzu heavy vehicles

• Experience servicing Hiab or Palfinger vehicle loading cranes

• Hydraulic systems experience

• Forklift licence

• Air‑conditioning licence

• Welding and fabrication experience
