Job summary

WaterNSW is seeking an experienced Water Regulation Specialist (Full-Time, Permanent) to join the Customer Assessments & Approvals team. The role involves assessing water management applications, responding to customer enquiries, and conducting field inspections across NSW to support regulatory decisions.

The position reports to the Water Regulation Team Leader and offers hybrid work arrangements with opportunities to mentor colleagues and promote compliant outcomes.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in relevant discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Demonstrated capability in using complex spatial and mapping platforms to assess constraints and impacts on applications.
• Strong customer focus mindset with excellent service skills to respond to enquiries and resolve conflicts.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and ability to apply legislation in the workplace.
• Willing to travel around NSW and hold a current NSW Drivers License.

Responsibilities

• Review and process complex licence, dealing & approval applications to meet customer requirements and ensure compliance with legislation and WaterNSW standards.
• Provide high level customer service to stakeholders, resolving escalated queries and providing information in a timely manner.
• Provide education, coaching and support to stakeholders to improve assessment and approvals standards.
• Support legal activities including reviewing, finalising, and submitting necessary documentation and attending court proceedings where required.
• Ensure objections are managed effectively to ensure regulatory compliance.
