Job summary

Beaumont&Beaumont seeks a Senior Compliance Officer (Regulatory) at APS6 level to join the Regulatory Division in Canberra. The role is full-time for ~12 months with possible extension, based in Canberra City Centre with hybrid work considered case-by-case.

Ideal candidates will have regulatory/compliance experience, formal qualifications in the field, and strong analytical and communication skills to lead regulatory activities within a Commonwealth Government Agency.

Qualifications

• Experience performing compliance and regulatory activities within professional environments such as accounting, commerce, finance or related fields.
• Form al qualifications in regulatory, compliance and/or auditing.
• Highly developed analytical skills.
• Ability to interpret complex information, identify risks and issues, and provide timely, accurate advice to decision makers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Independently review financial disclosure returns submitted by political participants to ensure accuracy and legislative compliance.
• Assess and review election funding claims across the electoral cycle using a risk-based approach.
• Oversee the processing and payment of election funding to political parties and candidates in line with legislative obligations.
• Lead collection and analysis of information from diverse sources to identify potential non-compliance and risks, including foreign influence risks.
• Provide leadership and support to junior staff and foster capability development.
• Work as part of a collaborative team with autonomy and accountability.
