Northern Health in Melbourne’s northern suburbs seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for the Virtual Emergency Department (VED). The role is permanent part-time at 0.4 EFT, supporting 24/7 video consultations and triage for adults and children.

You will join a virtual MDT, with both onsite and home-based work options. Requirements include four years post-registration, recent critical care experience, strong clinical judgment, and advanced IT skills.

• Current or recent experience in critical care (Emergency or ICU).
• Ability to independently undertake comprehensive and timely patient assessments (adult and paediatric).
• Demonstrates advanced critical thinking to determine safe triage and care plan.
• Advanced IT skills.
• Able to work a rotating roster including weekends and night shifts.
• Permanent part-time requires a minimum 0.4 EFT (32 hours per fortnight).

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our five main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.

About the Role

Exciting opportunities exist forexperienced Critical Care Registered Nursesto join the Virtual Emergency Department (VED) at Northern Health on a permanent part-time at a minimum of 0.4 EFT. This is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that flourishes on innovation and ideas.

The VED is a 24-hour service providing video consultations to patients and Healthcare professionals within Victoria. The Virtual Registered Nurse is responsible for providing timely patient assessment and triage of adult and paediatric patients and providingappropriate healthcare advice in line with the relevant scope of practise and initiate appropriate referral pathways.

The Registered Nurse works as part of a virtual multidisciplinary team, including clerical, pharmacy, nurse practitioners and medical clinicians.

The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.

The role can be performed onsite or from home. Onsite space is available at Northern Health, Epping, Victoria.

Work from home set up must be supplied by the individual, and is subject to meeting Northern Health IT requirements and approval of Northern Health OHS and must include:

• Minimum of 2 connected screens monitors
• Reliable and fast internet access
• Private and confidential workspace
• Access to make phone calls

To be successful in this role you will have:

• A minimum of four years post registration experience as a Registered Nurse
• Must have current or recent experience working in a critical care nursing environment such as Emergency or ICU
• Demonstrated ability to independently undertake comprehensive and timelypatient assessments (adult and paediatric)
• Demonstrates advanced criticalthinking skillsto determine safe and accurate patient triage category and plan of care
• Advanced IT skills
• Must be able to work a rotating roster including weekends and nightshifts
• Permanent part-time must be able to commit to a minimum of 0.4EFT (32hr/fortnight)
