Job summary

Nepean Private Hospital, part of Healthscope, is seeking a Registered Nurse or Midwife for Special Care Nursery. The role focuses on high-quality newborn care with excellent patient and family communication.

The successful candidate will have AHPRA registration and 2+ years in neonatal/ newborn care, with a commitment to safety and standards. Salary ranges per NSW Enterprise Agreement, with flexible hospital work options.

Qualifications

• Current registration with AHPRA.
• Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience in Neonatal Intensive Care or Special Care Nursery/Newborn Postnatal care.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Compliance with ACQSHC National standards.
• Sound clinical decision making and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality nursing care using Assess–Plan–Implement–Evaluate for each patient and newborn.
• Maintain high-quality nursing care in a safe environment.
• Develop and utilise strategies for effective communication with patients and families.
• Collaborate with patients and families in care decisions.
• Occasionally work on other wards as required.

Nepean Private Hospital is in the multi-cultural Western Sydney City of Penrith. The hospital is a modern 109 bed facility providing a wide range of health services to the local community since 2000 including: orthopaedics, spinal, gynaecology, ENT, plastics, urology and general surgery, endoscopy, cardiology, cardiac angiography and obstetrics. As a Registered Nurse/Midwife in Special Care Nursery your responsibilities will be to:

• To provide quality nursing care by Assessing, Planning, Implementing and evaluating individual patient and new born care.
• To provide a standard of care according to the individual’s level of experience and education maintaining high quality nursing care within a safe environment.
• To develop and utilise strategies that encourage an atmosphere conducive to effective communication.
• To work in partnership with patients and families in decision-making regarding provision of care promoting beneficial relationships.
• When required, working on other wards in the Hospital.

The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate the following:

• Current registration with AHPRA
• Clinical skills and motivation to ensure excellence in patient care and customer service
• A minimum of 2 years post graduate experience in Neonatal Intensive Care or Special Care Nursery/Newborn Postnatal care.
• Compliance with ACQSHC National standards
• Sound clinical decision making and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Works well independently and within a team

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF – NSW Nurses and Midwives’ – Enterprise Agreement, a salary ranging from $40.26- $56.54 per hour.
