Job summary

NSW Health is seeking a Scrub Scout Registered Nurse at NBH to support high-volume surgical care in a fast-paced perioperative setting. You will work Monday to Friday, with AM/PM shifts, potential night shifts and on-call opportunities depending on roster needs.

You will be responsible for ensuring sterile, well-organized surgical environments, coordinating with surgeons and anaesthetists, and delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care. AHPRA Division 1 registration is required.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse – Division 1 must be held and current with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current clinical knowledge and clinical problem solving ability.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure surgical procedures are safe, sterile, organized and well-supported from start to finish.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists and other nurses to ensure smooth, efficient procedures.
  • Deliver safe, evidence-based, patient-centred perioperative care throughout the journey.

What you'll be doing

It’s an exciting time as the High Volume Surgical Hub is up and running and we are keen to recruit experienced Scrub Scout nurses to continue to offer great care to our patients. This is primarily a Monday to Friday opportunity requiring both AM and PM shift availability for a rotating roster; including some night shifts and potential for an on-call shift.

As a Scrub Scout nurse, you are ultimately responsible for ensuring surgical procedures are safe, sterile, organised, and well-supported from start to finish; collaborating with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other nurses to ensure procedures run smoothly and efficiently. As a valued member of the team, you will contribute to the delivery of safe, evidence-based, patient-centred care throughout the perioperative journey. You will be supported by experienced clinicians committed to professional development, continuous learning, and clinical excellence.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Registered Nurse - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
