About the Opportunity

Looking for a rewarding nursing role where you can make a lasting impact on patients' recovery while enjoying the support of a close-knit rural healthcare team? Wingham Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in a Permanent Full-Time position, with job share arrangements considered for the right applicants.

Set in a beautiful rural location, Wingham Rehabilitation Hospital provides a welcoming and collaborative environment where nurses, medical officers, allied health professionals, HealthShare staff and security work together to deliver exceptional person-centred care. Our service takes a planned and holistic approach to rehabilitation, supporting patients on their journey from acute care back into the community and helping them regain independence, confidence and quality of life.

What You Will Be Doing

Wingham Rehabilitation Hospital provides inpatient care for up to 16 patients, alongside outpatient and hydrotherapy services. As a Registered Nurse, you will work closely with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team to develop and support individual rehabilitation goals. You will provide high-quality nursing care while promoting recovery, independence and positive health outcomes.

You will utilise a broad range of clinical skills including care planning, medication management, wound care, clinical documentation and patient safety initiatives such as falls prevention, pressure injury management and manual handling practices. Working alongside Enrolled Nurses and Assistants in Nursing, you will contribute to the day-to-day operation of the unit and provide leadership and coordination of the facility during after-hours shifts. This role requires a confident clinician with sound clinical judgement who can assess, prioritise and respond appropriately to changing patient conditions while working collaboratively with available escalation pathways.

About You

Given there is no onsite after-hours support, you will demonstrate strong clinical assessment skills, sound decision-making, and the ability to safely manage patient care and lead the team during after-hours shifts.

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Strong clinical judgement and the ability to recognise and respond to deteriorating patients.
  • A commitment to safe, evidence-based and person-centred care.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a supportive team culture.
Essential requirements:
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Recent acute or sub-acute nursing experience within an Australian hospital.
  • Demonstrated ability to work confidently and autonomously during after-hours shifts.
  • Excellent clinical assessment, communication and leadership skills.
