Job summary

Nepean Hospital, part of Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the General Surgery team in a temporary full-time or part-time role. You will provide perioperative and postoperative nursing care, conduct assessments, and collaborate with medical and allied health staff to optimise patient outcomes.

The role requires current AHPRA RN registration, strong clinical skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care across the patient

Qualifications

• Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with AHPRA.
• Clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care settings.
• Ability to organise and prioritise work and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe and effective nursing care across perioperative care pathway.
• Develop and evaluate individualised care plans with multidisciplinary team.
• Monitor patients pre- and post-operatively and respond to changes in condition.
• Administer medications and treatments per hospital policy.
• Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery, and discharge.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join the General Surgery team at Nepean Hospital in a temporary role. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Nurse to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team and provide high-quality, patient-centred care to surgical patients throughout their hospital journey.

As a Registered Nurse in General Surgery, you will be responsible for delivering safe and effective Nursing care across the Perioperative and Postoperative patient journey while working collaboratively with Medical, Allied Health and Nursing colleagues. This is a role that will provide high-quality, evidence-based Nursing care to patients undergoing general surgical procedures, conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement and evaluate individualised care plans, monitor patients pre- and post-operatively, recognising and responding appropriately to changes in clinical condition, administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, provide education and support to patients and their families regarding surgical procedures, recovery and discharge planning and maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

What you will bring to the role

• Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
• Demonstrated experience and clinical skill as a Registered Nurse (including completion of a new graduate year or equivalent experience working as a registered Nurse).
• Demonstrated capacity to provide effective Nursing care that is person centred, family inclusive and culturally sensitive to people accessing health services.
• Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work
• Demonstrated effective communications written and verbal skills
