Job summary

NSW Health's Nepean Hospital is seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to join the General Surgery team in a temporary role. You will provide high-quality nursing care across the perioperative and postoperative journey, working within a multidisciplinary team to support patient recovery and discharge planning.

The role requires current AHPRA registration, evidence-based practice, and flexibility to work day, evening or night shifts across the week. Applications close 16 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with AHPRA.
• Demonstrated experience and clinical skill as a Registered Nurse.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join the General Surgery team at Nepean Hospital in a temporary role. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Nurse to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team and provide high-quality, patient-centred care to surgical patients throughout their hospital journey.

As a Registered Nurse in General Surgery, you will be responsible for delivering safe and effective Nursing care across the Perioperative and Postoperative patient journey while working collaboratively with Medical, Allied Health and Nursing colleagues.

This is a role that will provide high-quality, evidence-based Nursing care to patients undergoing general surgical procedures, conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement and evaluate individualised care plans, monitor patients pre- and post-operatively, recognising and responding appropriately to changes in clinical condition, administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, provide education and support to patients and their families regarding surgical procedures, recovery and discharge planning and maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

What you will bring to the role

• Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
• Demonstrated experience and clinical skill as a Registered Nurse (including completion of a new graduate year or equivalent experience working as a registered Nurse).
• Demonstrated capacity to provide effective Nursing care that is person centred, family inclusive and culturally sensitive to people accessing health services.
