Job summary

Far West Local Health District in Broken Hill seeks a Permanent Full Time Registered Nurse to deliver and coordinate evidence-based diabetes care, education and support for patients across the district.

You will provide clinical supervision to staff and students, maintain professional knowledge through ongoing education, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality care across the patient journey.

Qualifications

• Current NMBA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Postgraduate qualification or willingness to obtain within two years.
• Demonstrated communication skills and teamwork.

What You'll Be Doing

Deliver and coordinate evidence-based, person-centred diabetes care, education, and support to patients/clients of Far West Local Health District, in accordance with clinical standards, policies, and procedures.

• Provide clinical support and supervision to staff and students where appropriate, to promote a culture of learning, capability development, and high-quality care delivery
• Maintain and develop professional knowledge and skills in diabetes care through ongoing education and reflective practice, to ensure contemporary and safe clinical practice
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity, integration, and quality of care across the patient journey.

Application Criteria

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). Post graduate qualification in relevant field or willingness to obtain within two years.
• Demonstrated recent post-registration experience in a relevant specialty within an acute care setting.
• Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to identify and convey key messages, issues, and concerns effectively.
• Proven ability to engage proactively with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and support others in achieving service excellence.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, maintaining professional and ethical boundaries in complex clinical situations
• Demonstrated computer literacy, including the ability to effectively use health information systems.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety, and quality principles, and the role of the Registered Nurse in applying these in clinical practice.
• Current unrestricted drivers licence and willingness to travel across the district with possible overnight stays when required.
