The Registered Nurse/Midwife coordinates and delivers the nursing care to women in line with The Royal Hospital for Women (RHW) Vision and SESLHD clinical business rules, procedures and the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
The Registered Nurse/Midwife provides care for women requiring higher levels of monitoring than standard ward-based care.
The COU is a five bed unit situated on Level 4 of RHW.
The COU cares for both high risk and acutely unwell Obstetric and Gynaecological/Gynae Oncology women.
The COU team work 12-hour shifts in a 6 week roster pattern, in line with the Public Health System Nurses’ and Midwives (State) Award.
The Registered Nurse/Midwife working in the COU is required to have at least 2 years of relevant recent nursing experience and skills suitable for the role including but not limited to rhythm interpretation, invasive blood pressure monitoring and non-invasive ventilation.
The Registered Nurse/Midwife must have clear communication skills, time management skills and is able to work closely with the multidisciplinary team.
The Registered Nurse/Midwife on the COU must work in line with the NSW Health CORE values.
