Job summary

Caring Approach is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Canberra team for a part-time role, offering flexibility while delivering high‑quality community-based care. The position supports participants in the NDIS and aged care programs with 2–3 days per week, with potential expansion based on applicant circumstances.

You will perform clinical assessments for Support at Home and NDIS, liaise with hospitals on discharge, and provide clinical oversight to our skilled support workers, guiding care

Qualifications

• Current NMBA registration and Ahpra registration in Australia.
• Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent approved qualification.
• Experience in community or nursing settings is desirable.
• Strong assessment and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and compassionate approach to care.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of aged care and NDIS standards and guidelines.
• Current immunisations and First Aid/CPR accreditation or willingness to obtain.

Job description

Caring Approach is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our NDIS and Aged Care team in Canberra, ACT. This is a part-time position offering flexibility whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of our participants. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care in community based services, perform clinical assessments for Support at Home and NDIS, liaise with hospitals upon participant discharge and provide clinical oversight to our skilled support workers. Your clinical expertise and empathetic approach will be instrumental in supporting our participants through their care journey. At this stage the role is being offered as 2 - 3 days a week depending on applicant circumstances but this may expand in the future.

Key responsibilities

• Delivering direct nursing care to participants, including wound management, medication administration and health monitoring
• Assessing participant health conditions and developing individualised care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Maintaining accurate and comprehensive participant health records and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Monitoring vital signs and reporting any changes in participant health status to senior clinical staff
• Communicating effectively with participants, families and care team members to ensure continuity of care
• Contributing to infection control and safety protocols through training of field staff
• Participating in professional development and maintaining current clinical knowledge and skills
• Assisting with end-of-life care and providing compassionate support to participants and their families
• Liaising with hospital staff following participant admission or discharge and synthesising discharge summary for Caring Approach staff.

What we’re looking for

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra)
• Relevant qualifications: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent approved qualification
• Demonstrated experience working in community or nursing environments
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a compassionate approach to care
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Knowledge of aged care & NDIS standards, regulations and best practice guidelines
• Current immunisations as per aged care requirements
• Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
