Australian Red Cross Lifeblood – Curtin ACT is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver exceptional donor service and ensure a steady supply of blood products. You will interview donors, provide clinical oversight, perform essential checks, and support the donor journey in a busy Curtin centre.

Flexibility to work varied shifts on a fortnightly roster is required, with January 2027 commencement. Training is provided to support best-practice donor care.

Formación

• Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent) and AHPRA registration required.
• Experience in a clinical donor setting is desirable.
• Strong patient-centred communication and teamwork skills.

Responsabilidades

• Greet and interview potential donors to assess eligibility and suitability.
• Provide clinical oversight and guide team in the blood collection process.
• Perform routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests.
• Set up machines and collections equipment.
• Assist with needle insertion and blood collection for whole blood, plasma and platelets.
• Manage adverse donor reactions with instructions and assistance.
• Support post-donation donor care and rebooking.

About the role

As a Registered Nurse, you will bring your fantastic customer-facing skills and passion to deliver an exceptional service, while working together to ensure Australia’s supply of blood products.

A day in the centre could see you:

• Greet and interview potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate
• Provide clinical oversight and guide other team members in the blood collection process
• Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
• Set up machines and collections equipment
• Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets
• Manage adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and physical assistance
• Monitor donors post-donation and assist them to rebook for their next donation

Our paid and flexible self-paced training program has a balance between on-the-job practice and online class schedules to ensure that you are well supported. Besides having a real passion to deliver an exceptional donor experience, you’ll need to be able to:

• Occasionally lift between 9-22.7kgs
• Frequently stand, walk and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products
• Utilise your expertise having completed a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent) and hold a current AHPRA registration
• Be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Sunday, including weekends and afternoon shifts
• Be available to commence in Jan 2027
