Job summary

Snowy Monaro Regional Council is seeking a Biosecurity Officer in Berridale to support weed management programs under the Biosecurity Act 2015. Applicants should have experience in agricultural weed management, strong communication skills, and a current Class C Drivers Licence.

Qualifications

• Experience in agricultural or weed management field.
• Ability to identify and manage locally occurring weed species.
• Proven ability to communicate with landholders to provide advice and resolve conflicts.
• Experience implementing integrated weed management practices.
• Ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships to achieve outcomes.
• Current Class C Drivers Licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist Council with the implementation of an effective weed management program.
• Inspect private and public lands in accordance with Council policies.
• Educate and advise landholders, groups and government bodies on legislative requirements.
• Develop sustainable weed management plans in consultation with land managers.
• Enforce provisions of the Biosecurity Act 2015 where breaches are identified.
• Promote information sharing to drive evidence-based decisions and enhance capacity.
• Contribute to a safe workplace and demonstrate accountability.
