Job summary

NSW Health’s Murrumbidgee Local Health District invites you to join Griffith Base Hospital as a Visiting Medical Officer in Paediatrics. This contract role offers scope to deliver contemporary paediatric care to infants, children and adolescents across inpatient, outpatient and on‑call settings in a supportive regional health network.

You will supervise junior medical officers, participate in clinical governance and quality improvement, and contribute to a sustainable paediatric service.

Qualifications

• Holds unconditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Paediatrician.
• Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Paediatrics at the role delineation of the service.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
• Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
• Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
• Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.

Responsibilities

• Delivering evidence‑based paediatric clinical services across inpatient, outpatient and on‑call settings
• Supporting junior medical officers and multidisciplinary staff through supervision, leadership and education
• Participating in clinical governance, quality improvement and risk management activities
• Contributing to continuity of care through effective communication and use of clinical information systems
• Participating in the department’s on‑call roster
