Qualifications

  • Five years’ experience in workers’ compensation including early intervention, injury management and return to work.
  • Experience leading and developing a claims or injury management team.
  • Experience in a self-insurance environment with regulatory compliance, audits and licence requirements.
  • Knowledge of NSW and ACT workers’ compensation legislation, regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  • Experience with insurers, regulators, legal advisers, medical professionals and rehabilitation providers.
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management and organisational capability.
  • Sound analytical skills to turn claims data into practical business insights.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and its application to injury management and return-to-work planning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, claims management systems and business reporting tools.
  • Current driver’s licence and ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and review workers’ compensation strategies across NSW and ACT.

  • Provide expert guidance on complex claims, injury management, return to work, disputes and settlements.
  • Champion early reporting, intervention and safe return-to-work practices.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to develop effective claims strategies and risk management.
  • Use claims data to identify trends and provide insights for decision-making.
  • Develop and deliver workers’ compensation and return-to-work training across the business.
  • Manage relationships with insurers, legal advisers, and rehabilitation providers.
  • Represent ISS during regulatory audits, industry forums, and settlement discussions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve claims processes and injury management.

Regional Manager, Injury Assist NSW/ACT

We’re looking for an experienced Regional Manager, Injury Assist NSW/ACT to lead our workers’ compensation and injury management function across NSW and the ACT.

This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing compliance with ISS's NSW self-insurance licence, managing our ACT insured arrangements, and driving early intervention, sustainable return-to-work outcomes and financially responsible claims management.

You’ll lead and develop the NSW/ACT Injury Assist team while partnering with operational leaders, HSEQ, HR, Finance, regulators and external service providers. With a combination of technical expertise, commercial thinking and strong people leadership, you’ll help deliver positive outcomes for our people and the business.

What you’ll do

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations and performance of the NSW/ACT Injury Assist team, including workload allocation, portfolio oversight, capability development and performance conversations.
  • Develop, implement and review workers’ compensation strategies across NSW and the ACT.
  • Maintain compliance with the NSW self-insurance licence and relevant legislative, regulatory, accreditation and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee ACT insurance arrangements and work closely with the insurer to progress claims and achieve commercially sound outcomes.
  • Provide expert technical guidance on complex claims, injury management, return to work, disputes, litigation and settlement negotiations.
  • Champion early reporting, early intervention and safe, sustainable return-to-work practices.
  • Partner with HSEQ, HR, Finance and operational leaders to develop effective claims strategies and strengthen safety and risk management.
  • Use claims data and reporting to identify trends, provide meaningful insights and support informed decision-making.
  • Develop and deliver workers’ compensation, injury management and return-to-work training across the business.
  • Manage relationships and performance across insurers, legal advisers, rehabilitation providers and other service partners.
  • Represent ISS during regulatory audits and reviews, industry forums, court proceedings and settlement discussions as required.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to continuously improve claims, injury management, reporting and team processes.
What you’ll bring

You’ll be an accomplished workers’ compensation or injury management professional who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to lead people and influence stakeholders.

You will ideally have:

  • At least five years’ experience in workers’ compensation, including early intervention, injury management and return to work.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing a claims or injury management team.
  • Experience working within a self-insurance environment, including regulatory compliance, audits and licence requirements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NSW and ACT workers’ compensation legislation, regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  • Experience managing complex claims and working with insurers, regulators, legal advisers, medical professionals and rehabilitation providers.
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management and organisational capability.
  • Sound analytical skills with the ability to turn claims data into practical business insights.
  • An understanding of medical terminology and its application to injury management and return-to-work planning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, claims management systems and business reporting tools.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in allied health, rehabilitation, insurance, business or a related discipline.
  • A current driver’s licence and the flexibility to travel as required.
