Job summary

Heidelberg Materials Australia is seeking an experienced, values-driven HSE leader to shape the future of Regional Group Australia, spanning VIC, NSW, ACT and QLD. You will lead a dispersed team, partner with regional leadership, and drive consistent safety improvements across multiple businesses under a common brand.

You will guide risk management, ensure regulatory compliance, embed practical HSEQ systems, and foster collaboration while balancing local needs with Group standards.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in Health, Safety and Environment or ops leadership roles within mining, quarrying, transport, manufacturing and heavy industry.
• Strong working knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and resources sector requirements.
• Proven ability to lead health and safety across diverse businesses and operating environments.
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing practical risk management and safety improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of the Regional Group Australia Health and Safety Improvement Plan, aligned with Heidelberg Materials Australia's objectives.
• Drive the integration and harmonisation of H&S practices across diverse operations with shared learnings and best practice.
• Provide expert guidance on Health & Safety and workers compensation legislative requirements across jurisdictions.
• Partner with operational leaders to strengthen risk management and drive sustainable safety improvements.
• Lead significant incident investigations and translate lessons learned into effective risk controls.
• Lead, coach and develop a geographically dispersed H&S team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
• Oversee governance processes including incident management, workers compensation, return to work, assurance activities and reporting.
