Job summary

Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet invites applications for Regional Executive Director - Big Rivers (ECO 2), Katherine, NT. This is a fixed‑period 4‑year, full‑time appointment with base remuneration of $262,223–$281,160 per year.

You will lead whole‑of‑government regional delivery, drive strategic partnerships and provide high‑level advice to inform decisions, policies and reforms. The role offers relocation and housing support where eligible and a vibrant Katherine lifestyle.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications and senior leadership experience or equivalent mix of experience and training.
• Proven regional economic development, policy implementation and strategic leadership.
• Strong collaborative skills and ability to build lasting cross‑agency alliances.
• Excellent communication with CEOs, Senior Executives, Ministers and diverse stakeholders.
• High level political awareness and whole‑of‑government perspective.

Join the Northern Territory Government as the Regional Executive Director - Big Rivers (Katherine). You will provide whole-of-government leadership to drive the effective delivery of Northern Territory Government priorities across the region. Based in Katherine, you will work with all three tiers of government, industry, Aboriginal organisations and local communities to identify regional priorities, strengthen partnerships, inform decision-making and drive coordinated action.

To Be Successful You Will Bring

• Relevant qualifications and senior leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Proven expertise in regional economic development, policy implementation and strategic leadership.
• Strong collaborative skills, including a 'can do' attitude, demonstrated ability to establish and sustain productive working relationships and strategic alliances, and demonstrated results in cross-agency collaboration, service coordination and reform implementation.
• Excellent communication capability, including in providing verbal and written advice to a range of stakeholders, including CEOs and Senior Executives, Ministers, as well as industry and community stakeholders, and interacting effectively with people of diverse cultures.
• Demonstrated high level of political awareness, sensitivity, judgement and ability to approach a range of complex issues from a whole of government perspective.
• Substantial knowledge and understanding of current and emerging regional, remote, and urban issues and their drivers.
