Job summary

Isaac Regional Council is seeking a civil infrastructure leader to oversee planning, design coordination and capital delivery across transport, water and related assets. You will unify an expanded team, set priorities and ensure delivery of community-focused programs.

You bring 10+ years of civil engineering leadership, strong stakeholder engagement and proven ability to manage consultants and deliver value for money within a local government context. A Construction White Card is required.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of civil engineering experience.
• Strong infrastructure planning and asset management capabilities.
• Experience leading design and technical services across roads, drainage, traffic.
• Ability to manage consultants and contractors for value for money.
• Knowledge of civil construction, maintenance, Queensland requirements and TMR specs.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including MS Project.
• Construction White Card and valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop engineering and technical staff, building a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Develop 5-, 10- and 20-year infrastructure priorities and capital works programs.
• Coordinate infrastructure planning, asset renewals and delivery of transport and water projects.
• Manage external design consultants, specs, construction standards and engineering reports.
• Oversee heavy vehicle access approvals and road corridor agreements with industry.
• Provide engineering input into development and operational works assessments with planning teams.
• Coordinate bridge inspection requirements and oversight of aerodromes.
• Identify grant opportunities and submit funding applications.
• Build trusted relationships with government, industry, contractors, elected representatives and communities.
