Job summary

Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions VIC – Warrnambool VIC is seeking a Regional Development Officer on a fixed-term, part-time basis (0.5 FTE) to promote and deliver economic development initiatives across the Barwon South West region.

You will support place-based solutions, manage grant applications and projects, and provide research and analysis. The role requires strong communication, project support experience and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

The Role

As the Regional Development Officer, you will assist in the promotion, delivery and management of economic development initiatives for communities and businesses across the Barwon South West region. You will support place-based solutions that enhance liveability and prosperity, provide project support, administer and monitor grant applications and projects, and undertake research and analysis. The role will suit a self-motivated and organised individual with strong communication skills, project support experience and the ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Main Accountabilities

• Support integrated investment in place by developing and maintaining relationships and networks with Federal, State and local government, community organisations, business and industry.


• Support investment attraction, economic development and delivery of DJSIR/RDV industry and recovery initiatives across the region, identifying and leveraging regional development opportunities.


• Support a portfolio of stakeholders through promoting, delivering and managing development initiatives for communities and businesses within the region.


• Support grant and milestone management activities, including monitoring, managing and reviewing the performance of grant recipients and supporting cohesive grant delivery.


• Undertake routine research and analysis and provide project support to the broader RDV Regional team, including preparing high-quality correspondence, reports, submissions, presentations and briefings.

The position of Regional Development Officer forms part of Regional Development Victoria, Barwon South West.

Regional Development Victoria works with businesses, communities and across government to deliver economic growth, create jobs, build resilience and support economic recovery in regional Victoria. The team activates networks, builds partnerships, supports local economic and community resilience, and brings the lived experience of communities into government decision making.

About You

You will have experience in project management, business development or account management, including developing project plans, supporting project teams and managing emerging issues. You will demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills, building effective relationships, linking stakeholders with relevant areas and constructively addressing stakeholder issues. You will also bring strong project delivery and problem-solving capability, including analysing issues, engaging stakeholders and developing workable solutions.
