Job summary

The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action seeks a Leading Biosecurity Officer Plants to provide regional leadership across Victoria. The role manages complex projects, delivers high‑quality regulatory and advisory services, and guides a Biosecurity Officer to meet strategic outcomes.

Operating within legislation, the role supports preparedness for risks and emergencies, protecting agricultural productivity and environment. Hybrid work arrangements available in Swan Hill or Kerang.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of project management with ability to plan, monitor and evaluate programs.
• Experience leading teams, supervising staff and mentoring development.
• Experience managing biosecurity projects and liaising with stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication for reports and presentations.
• Ability to interpret legislation and support enforcement or legal actions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate complex biosecurity, plant and animal programs regionally.
• Ensure priority operational outcomes and supervise a Biosecurity Officer.
• Engage with stakeholders to support preparedness and response to biosecurity risks.
