Randstad Australia is seeking a driven Recruitment Specialist for our Trades & Labor desk in Canberra. This role handles a high-volume 360-degree recruitment desk in the construction sector, balancing market development with end-to-end sourcing and placement management.

About 90% of work involves short-term temporary assignments with strategic temp-to-perm conversions to maximise client retention and revenue potential.

Responsibilities

• Full-Cycle Recruitment: Manage candidate sourcing, interviewing, client account management, cold calling and direct sales.
• Candidate Sourcing & Screening: Proactively source candidates using LinkedIn, job boards (Seek), and network referrals; maintain pipeline.
• Client Engagement: Build strong relationships with site managers and decision-makers; complete 2 to 5 face-to-face client visits per week.
• Driving Business Development: Actively hunt for new clients through target-led cold calling and sales activity.
• Managing Client Portfolios: Maintain and grow a warm client portfolio with on-site visits to build trust.

Your Responsibilities

• Full-Cycle Recruitment: Manage candidate sourcing, interviewing, client account management, cold calling and direct sales.

• Candidate Sourcing & Screening: Proactively source candidates using LinkedIn, job boards (Seek), and network referrals. Conduct interviews to maintain a strong pipeline of skilled trades and labor talent.

• Client Engagement: Build strong relationships with site managers and decision-makers, completing 2 to 5 face-to-face client visits per week.

• Driving Business Development: Actively hunt for new clients through target-led cold calling, sales activity, and reverse marketing.

• Managing Client Portfolios: Maintain and grow a warm client portfolio while conducting face-to-face client visits to build trust and expand accounts.

What We're Looking For

• Relevant Experience: Background in recruitment, retail, industrial sales, or high-volume customer service.

• Drive & Motivation: Strong commercial acumen with a target-driven mindset and a desire to build a lucrative desk.

• Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to meet clients on-site and build rapport with blue-collar candidates.

• Work Ethic: Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable managing fast-paced temporary staffing demands
