Job summary

Orana Gardens in Dubbo, NSW, is seeking a dedicated Recreational Activities Officer to plan, organise and deliver engaging programs for aged care residents, fostering social interaction and a sense of community. Job description

Join Orana Gardens' team as a Recreational Activities Officer (RAO) and be responsible for planning, organising and delivering engaging activities and programs to enrich the lives of our aged care residents. In this full-time role based in Dubbo, NSW, you will work closely with our residents to identify their interests and tailor activities to their needs, promoting social interaction and a sense of community.

What you'll be doing

• Design, plan and facilitate a diverse range of recreational, social and therapeutic activities for residents, such as arts and crafts, music, games, outings and more
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to ensure activities align with residents' care plans and support their physical, cognitive and emotional wellbeing
• Actively engage with residents, build strong relationships and encourage their participation in activities
• Maintain detailed records and documentation related to resident participation and outcomes
• Support the continuous improvement of the activities program by seeking resident feedback and implementing changes
• Assist with general community and lifestyle support as needed

What we're looking for

• Qualifications in leisure, recreation or a related field (Desirable)
• Experience in planning and facilitating activities and programs for older adults, including those with complex care needs
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and engage positively with residents
• Creativity and the ability to think outside the box to design innovative, meaningful activities
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• A passion for enriching the lives of older adults and a commitment to providing high-quality care
• Ability to obtain Police Check
• Demonstrated experience working in a highly regulated industry, ideally aged care
• Availability for rotating weekend work
