Job summary

The School Receptionist at Reddam House Sydney is the first point of contact for visitors, staff and students. This permanent, term-time only role is based at our Senior School campus on Mitchell Street, Bondi, and supports daily front-office operations, communications, and records management with a welcoming, professional presence.

Qualifications

  • First aid certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid Working with Children Check.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist visitors, including parents, students, staff and external guests in a professional manner.
  • Manage incoming calls, emails and other communications, directing them appropriately.
  • Handle attendance records, including late arrivals and early departures.
  • Provide administrative support to management, including correspondence and scheduling.
  • Organise and distribute school mail, newsletters and other communications.
  • Keep the reception area tidy, welcoming and efficiently managed.
  • Coordinate school events, meetings and functions as required.
  • Liaise with staff, parents and external stakeholders to facilitate communication.
  • Maintain up-to-date records in the school's databases with confidentiality.
  • Provide first aid support and manage the sick bay as needed.

ROLE SUMMARY

The School Receptionist is the first point of contact for all visitors, staff, and students at Reddam House. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring a welcoming, professional, and organised front office environment. The School Receptionist manages a wide range of administrative tasks to support the daily operations of the school, ensuring smooth communication and effective handling of enquiries. The role contributes to the overall efficiency and image of the school.

This is a permanent, term-time only position based at our Senior School campus on Mitchell Street, Bondi.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Greet and assist all visitors, including parents, students, staff, and external guests, in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Manage incoming calls, emails, and other communications, directing them to the appropriate departments or individuals.
  • Handle student attendance records, including late arrivals and early departures, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Provide administrative support to the school’s management, including handling correspondence, scheduling appointments, and filing.
  • Assist with the organisation and distribution of school mail, newsletters, and other communications.
  • Ensure the reception area is tidy, welcoming, and efficiently managed at all times.
  • Assist with the coordination of school events, meetings, and functions as required.
  • Liaise with staff, parents, and external stakeholders to facilitate communication and manage enquiries.
  • Maintain up-to-date records in the school’s databases and ensure confidentiality of all sensitive information.
  • Provide first aid support and manage the school's sick bay as needed, ensuring that students are well cared for.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
  • Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with school management systems (desirable).
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle enquiries and issues efficiently.
