Job summary

Sutherland Shire Council's Recycling & Waste team is seeking a Rear Loader Driver to safely collect domestic and commercial waste and recycling across the Shire. This permanent Local Government role offers stability, attractive benefits and genuine career development opportunities.

You will operate waste collection vehicles, perform daily safety checks and contribute to high-quality services for residents and businesses with a Monday–Friday roster and a nine-day fortnight, plus generous leave

Qualifications

• A current HR Driver Licence is required.
• Experience operating heavy vehicles, ideally in waste collection or similar.
• Strong commitment to safety and customer service.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic mobile device and data entry skills.

What's on Offer?

• Base salary of $81,044 plus 12% superannuation
• Additional Customer Experience Allowance of $109.20 per day (Driver Only)
• Council commitment to an 8% pay increase over the next two years

*The Customer Experience Allowance is payable on eligible days when operating a waste collection vehicle and is not a guaranteed component of salary.

Work-Life Balance

About the Role

As a Rear Loader Driver, you'll be responsible for the safe and efficient collection of domestic and commercial waste and recycling across the Sutherland Shire.

Working as part of a dedicated crew, you'll operate waste collection vehicles, complete daily safety checks, and help deliver high-quality services to residents and businesses throughout the community.

Job & Finish Flexibility

Work as part of a supportive driving crew where teamwork matters and everyone shares the same goal: getting the job done safely, efficiently and to a high standard. The focus is on achieving outcomes, not watching the clock. Complete the day's work early and you may have the opportunity to head home before finishing time. When workloads increase, the team rolls up its sleeves and works together to ensure the job gets done and the community is well served.
