Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment is seeking two part-time 1:1 Special Needs Teaching Assistants for an alternative provision in North Cambridge. Two morning posts run 9:00–12:00 and 10:00–12:00, Monday to Friday during term time, with 2 positions available. You’ll plan sessions around EHCP targets, create materials, and work one-to-one with a student each morning.

Experience with SEN and EHCPs is preferred. A Level 2/3 TA qualification is welcome but not essential.

Qualifications

• Experience providing 1:1 support to children with special educational needs.
• Ability to plan and deliver simple session plans suited to EHCP targets.
• Good understanding of EHCPs and how they drive activities.

Responsibilities

• Plan each morning session around the student’s EHCP outcomes.

1:1 Special Needs Teaching Assistant – North Cambridge (CB24)

Location: North Cambridge, CB24

Hours: Mornings only – one post 9:00am to 12:00pm, one post 10:00am to 12:00pm, Monday to Friday, term time only

Luma Education Recruitment is recruiting two part-time Special Needs Teaching Assistants to work 1:1 with students at an alternative provision in North Cambridge (CB24). Each post supports one young person with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP): the first runs 9:00am to 12:00pm and the second 10:00am to 12:00pm. You will prepare your own session plans and resources, built around the student's EHCP outcomes, and deliver them one-to-one each morning. Both posts finish at midday, leaving afternoons free.

About the Setting

A small alternative provision supporting young people with additional needs who learn best with individual adult support outside a mainstream classroom. Each student follows a personalised timetable shaped around their interests, EHCP targets and pace.

What You'll Be Doing

• Planning each morning session around your student's EHCP outcomes


• Making and gathering resources that suit the student's interests and level


• Working 1:1 with one student for the full session


• Adjusting activities as the session goes, depending on how the student is engaging


• Keeping short notes on progress and passing updates to the provision's staff

What You'll Need

• Experience working 1:1 with children or young people with special educational needs


• Confidence writing simple session plans and preparing your own materials


• A working understanding of EHCPs


• Availability every weekday morning in term time


• A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is welcome but not essential
