Job summary

Girringun Aboriginal Corporation – Palm Island QLD is seeking a Ranger Coordinator to provide day-to-day leadership and operational coordination of the MinggaMingga Rangers Program. You will lead, mentor and develop the Ranger workforce, and drive annual and seasonal Caring for Country work programs across land and sea Country.

Qualifications

• Current Manual Driver Licence
• Current First Aid
• Blue Card
• Coxswain qualification or willingness to obtain
• Ability to work remotely across the Greater Palm Island Group of Isles
• Ability to travel by vessel and aircraft.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop the Ranger workforce.
• Coordinate annual and seasonal Caring for Country work programs.
• Support activities across land and sea Country.
• Manage Ranger operations, rosters, equipment, fleet, safety and remote logistics.
• Build training, qualification and career pathways for Rangers.
• Maintain relationships with government agencies, researchers and environmental partners.
• Coordinate funding, reporting and contractual requirements.
• Support marine, environmental, cultural heritage and conservation activities.
• Strengthen opportunities for Traditional Knowledge and technical knowledge to be shared.
• Build employment and leadership pathways for Rangers.
• Ensure operations reflect cultural authority and priorities of the Manbarra and Bwgcolman people.
