Job summary

Aurizon, Australia’s largest rail freight operator, is seeking a Yard Planner in Adelaide to coordinate train crew and yard operations, ensuring resources are deployed productively and that on-time train service and maintenance activities are delivered.

You will oversee day-to-day rolling stock movements, monitor schedule changes and collaborate with key stakeholders to keep yard activities aligned with the daily and forecast plans.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV or Diploma in Frontline Management preferred.
• Experience in large-scale logistics or heavy industry preferred.
• Experience in planning or operations preferred.
• Ability to work in a day-of-operations environment.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and customer value delivery.
• Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage allocation, utilisation and deployment of production resources to ensure disciplined execution of the yard plan.
• Develop, implement and manage processes, systems and procedures that reduce above rail factors impacting supply chain performance and the daily schedule.
• Support the knowledge, skills and capability of the team, ensuring goals and objectives are clear, current, measurable and aligned to business targets.
• Provide advice, coaching and support to operational employees to help achieve performance objectives, promote high-performing teams and support continuous improvement.
• Ensure business activities and employees within the role’s area of control comply with legislative obligations, company policies, standards and procedures.
