Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Project Engineer based in Perth, Australia, to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The role spans administrative to strategic tasks, reporting to a Project Manager and collaborating with system and subsystem design teams.

The successful candidate will contribute to planning, engineering delivery, and safety and continuous improvement initiatives. Applicants should have a degree in Engineering or Computer Science with rail, signalling experience and a proven track record

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or Computer Science with background in Electrical/Mechanical/Systems Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in a Project Engineering role, with experience in rail, systems and signalling.
• Experience in turnkey projects (within rail signalling) highly desirable, particularly delivering systems such as ETCS, ERTMS and CBTC.
• Experience in effective resource management and working with a large multi-cultural team.
• Experience in real-time system engineering; testing and integration activities, software verification and validation best practices and safety critical techniques.
• Agile mindset, able to take prompt decisions in a challenging environment.
• Ability to analyse data and draw insights to inform decision-making.
• Ability to form and build key stakeholder relationships.

• Planning of engineering activities in conjunction with the Project Manager, system and subsystem design teams
• Engineering management, delivery, and change management
• Design review and management
• Engineering status reporting incl. risk reviews
• Technical approvals and configuration management
• Systems engineering
• Ensuring all activities undertaken are conducted with due regard to a high level of continuous improvement
