Job summary

UGL Pty Limited is seeking a Health Safety Security & Environment Advisor to oversee rail safety compliance across NSW. You will mentor teams, conduct site visits, and prepare SMS/rail safety reports while supporting safety initiatives during operations and shutdowns.

You will contribute to risk assessments, incident investigations, and the ongoing updates to safety management documentation in a dynamic rail environment at Blue Mountains & Central West locations.

Qualifications

• Experience in operational rail safety environments.
• Experience in rail safeworking requirements.
• Ability to conduct incident investigations and risk assessments.
• Knowledge of Safety Management Systems and network rules.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring on rail safety, including site visits for mentoring and support.
• Prepare reports of site visit compliance with SMS and Rail Safety National Law.
• Assist in the completion of incident investigations and coaching staff.
• Support the development and updating of site-specific safety management documentation.

We manage the CRN – Country Regional Network, ensuring safe transportation of people and goods across NSW.Job PurposeThis position is responsible to work under the direction of the Head of HSE and assist in overseeing all rail safety requirements and ensuring compliance with network rules and procedures.Key ResponsibilitiesCoaching and mentoring on rail safety, including conducting site visits for mentoring and support both randomly and scheduledPrepare reports of site visit compliance with SMS and Rail Safety National LawProvide support and guidance in the rail safety operational environment for operations and maintenance activities, including support for the business during shutdowns.Assist in the preparation of strategies for working safely within and around rail corridors – including lateral thinking in implementing Safety solutions.Assist in the completion of incident investigations when required and coaching of staff conducting investigations.Support the response, recovery and learning from incidents which may occur.Assist in the development of site-specific safety management documentation such as plans and risk assessments.Monitoring compliance with safety controls and ensuring incidents, hazards and safety conversations are reported and control breaches/incidents are investigated for prevention of recurrence.Audits of compliance with the Safety Management System, including Network Rules and Procedures, and production of reports.Updating of Safety Management System (SMS) documentation as required.QualificationsExperience in operational rail safety environments.Experience in rail safeworking requirementsExperience in delivery of safety initiatives and trainingDemonstrates a sound understanding of Risk Management principles, controls hierarchy etc.Sound knowledge of HSSE and Quality Systems.Demonstrated ability to conduct accident/incident investigations, risk assessments and hazard / injury management processes.DiversityWe embrace diversity in all its forms—backgrounds, ideas, work styles, and perspectives.
