Job summary

Sydney Trains is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the development and design of defect monitoring systems for overhead wiring. You will work within the Engineering and Maintenance division under Major Works in Project Delivery, collaborating with multiple teams to harmonise standards and technical requirements.

The role focuses on governance, standards development, and delivering engineering solutions with attention to safety and constructability.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in engineering, or equivalent rail related experience.
• Experience in defect assessment, ideally in rail and overhead wiring.
• Demonstrated engineering support including functional specification development and design coordination.
• Attention to detail with a track record in rail or infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice to support overhead wiring condition monitoring projects.
• Design, develop and maintain monitoring systems with new technology.
• Work with engineering teams to detect defects, meet specs, uphold safety standards.
• Coordinate with project teams to assess safety in design and review tenders.
