Job summary

Gemco Rail, a subsidiary of Engenco Limited, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter for a 38-hour-per-week casual role based in Gladstone. You will perform examinations and maintenance of rail rolling stock in line with procedures, ensuring a safe on-site and field operations environment.

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will conduct mechanical inspections, wagon wheel changes, ECP SCAT testing, and documentation, while liaising with transport and depot staff to uphold safety and

Qualifications

• Trade qualification required and relevant engineering knowledge.
• Experience in rolling stock/railway equipment essential.
• Exposure to hydraulic/pneumatic systems and safety standards.
• Sound knowledge of OH&S regulations and general engineering practices.
• Good written and verbal communication and strong organisational skills.
• Railway track access certificate or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform full mechanical inspections of rolling stock to standards.
• Complete wagon wheel changes and ensure proper documentation.
• EC P SCAT testing, fault finding and maintenance tasks.
• Interface with transport contractors during rolling stock marshalling.
• Communicate inspection results to operations and supervisor.
• Maintain workshop security and perform tasks as directed.
• Assist in repairs and services to rolling stock as required.
