Job summary

Agilent Technologies in Melbourne is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our design team. You will innovate independently or with peers to turn ideas into a commercial spectroscopy product through rapid prototyping and iterative testing.

You will work with 3D CAD/CAE in Siemens NX, perform FEA/CFD analyses, and collaborate across R&D, manufacturing, procurement and quality to deliver robust designs for production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
• 5+ years practical R&D experience in high-tech product development.
• Experience with Sheet metal, injection moulding, casting; GD&T and NX familiarity.

Job Description

As a MechanicalEngineeryou will have the ability to innovate independently and/or work with other engineers to develop ideas into a successful product. You are capable ofworking inanengineering design teamand also independently on tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provides engineering input for the research,designand development of new innovative spectroscopy products.


• Generating concept ideas, creating new designs, simulations, calculations, data analysis, accepting feedback in design reviews, creating drawings, working with suppliers, ordering parts, creating test plans, building and testing prototypes,


• Refining the design as required to meet the product specification and transferring the design into production.


• Creating,testingand implementing solutions for minor improvements of existing products will also berequired.


• Identifyrisks (both technical and commercial), and work within the project teams and across the organization to mitigate them.


• Coordinate and collaboratively work with the other functions (other R&D teams, marketing, manufacturing, procurement, quality, product support, etc.)requiredto turn an idea into a commercial product or make improvements to existing products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor orMaster’s degree in Mechanicalor Mechatronic Engineering.


• 5+ years practical R&D experience, preferably in a high-tech environment that develops commercial products.


• Experience with manufacturing processes – Particularly Sheetmetal, injection moulding, casting.


• Strong understanding and familiarity with ASME GD&T Y14.5 standards and tolerancing. Familiarity with Model Based Definition and PMI


• 3D CAD/CAE experience, specifically Siemens NX.


• FEA, CFD and FMEA experience.


• Problem solving mind.


• Strong communication, time management,initiativeandability to work well with cross functional teams, team player.


• Demonstrated strong hands-on prototyping skillset infabrication and rapid prototyping such as3D printing.
