Job summary

Heidelberg Materials Australia is recruiting an experienced Quarry Manager to lead the Axedale Sand & Gravel Quarry, 25 minutes east of Bendigo in Country Victoria. Reporting to the Area Manager, the role oversees production, safety, maintenance, and P&L responsibilities while driving continuous improvement.

You will manage day-to-day operations, develop a high-performance team, optimise costs and ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in leading quarry operations or similar mining roles.
• Proven track record in safety, performance and continuous improvement.
• Strong decision-making under pressure and budget awareness.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.

Role Overview

Strive, Develop and Succeed. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quarry Manager to lead the team at our Axedale Sand & Gravel Quarry in Country Victoria, 25 minutes East of Bendigo. Reporting to the Area Manager, this role is a multi‑faceted role leading the quarry and overseeing the daily management of the operation, including production, continuous improvement, health & safety, logistics and full P&L responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team, driving them to achieve goals.
• Make business decisions that impact overall performance, including targets, KPIs, financial planning, budgeting and cost management.
• Manage day‑to‑day operations, including quarry development, stormwater and environmental management, and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Continue rehabilitation initiatives and maintain the company’s reputation as a responsible and sustainable partner.
• Maintain a strong safety mindset, manage high‑risk activities and reduce risk exposure.

Qualifications

• Experienced quarry manager or supervisor with relevant industry qualifications.
• Leadership experience and ability to support continuous improvement across the supply chain.
• Track record of delivering transformational change within a complex business environment.
• Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Commitment to risk management and Zero Harm.
• Strong team player who can multi‑task and make quick, effective decisions under pressure.
• Positive presence in building effective relationships with key stakeholders.
• High resilience and adaptability to changing situations.
