Job summary

Drew Project Services Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Quality Manager in Beresfield NSW to lead our quality management system and ensure project compliance in mining and construction environments.

You will oversee audits, Project Quality Plans, inspection and test documentation, and welding quality control. Strong communication with engineers, managers and on-site teams is essential for delivering high quality work safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Certificate in Quality Management required or highly desirable.
• AS2214 Welding Supervisor and Welding Inspector certifications are preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and continuous improvement practices.
• Experience with quality systems in mining, construction, or heavy industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
• Coordinate internal and supplier audits and support external audits.
• Develop and manage Project Quality Plans, ITPs, ITCs, and related documentation.
• Review drawings, specs and contracts to identify quality obligations and deliverables.
• Verify compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications and AS/NZS 1554 standards.
• Oversee weld mapping, traceability, heat numbers and material certificates.
• Manage NCRs, defects, corrective actions, and root-cause investigations.
• Compile MDRs, turnover packages and handover documentation.

We have an exciting opportunity for a new Quality Manager to join the team here at Drew Project Services!

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Quality Manager who enjoys getting involved, working with people, and turning technical requirements into practical ways of working. This role suits someone with strong technical knowledge, especially in welding and fabrication procedures.

You’ll take the lead on our Quality Management System and project quality requirements, working closely with engineering, project managers, supervisors, workshop and site teams. There is plenty of variety, and you will have the opportunity to shape how we plan, deliver, and improve quality across the business.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Implementation, maintenance of, and the continuous improvement of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, as well as conduct internal and supplier audits, and support external certification, client and regulatory audits.
• Develop and manage Project Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Inspection and Test Checklists (ITCs) and supporting documentation.
• Review drawings, specifications, scopes and contracts to identify quality obligations, inspection requirements and documentation deliverables before work commences.
• Verify compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR/WPQR), welder qualifications and relevant standards, including AS/NZS 1554.
• Oversee weld mapping, weld and material traceability, heat numbers, consumable control, receiving inspections, certificates of conformity and material certificates.
• Manage NCRs, defects, concessions, root-cause investigations and corrective actions, ensuring issues are resolved and lessons inform future work.
• Manage the compilation and review of Manufacturer’s Data Reports (MDRs), turnover packages, quality dossiers and final handover documentation.

You know your way around quality management in mining, construction, structural steel fabrication or a similar industrial environment. You’re comfortable with technical details, and just as comfortable talking it through with the people doing the work to ensure we’re delivering work of a high standard, every time.

The essentials

Here’s what you’ll bring to DPS:

• Relevant qualifications in Quality Management (Diploma of Quality Auditing or Certificate IV in Quality Management and Assurance).
• Structural Welding Supervisor (AS2214), Certificate 10 (AS1976) Welding Inspector and/or NACE CIP Level 2 and Level 3 highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, including implementation, maintenance, auditing, compliance and continuous improvement.
• Solid understanding of applicable Australian legislative requirements, relevant Australian Standards and contractual quality obligations.
• Background in mining, construction, mechanical, structural or heavy industry projects, with significant working knowledge across welding quality requirements and NDT methods.
• Strong communication and exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with a focus on attention to detail.
• Confidence with project documentation (including project quality plans, ITPs, ITCs and project handover records), reporting and client communication.
• A genuine commitment to safety, quality and delivering work properly the first time, every time.
