Job summary

Phytex Australia is seeking a QC Manager to lead its Analytical and Preparative Laboratory & Stability Testing programs in NSW. You will oversee ~5 staff, plan testing priorities, and ensure GMP-compliant data integrity and timely batch delivery.

Qualifications

Job description

The QC Manager is responsible for the effective leadership, coordination and day-to-day management of Phytex Australia's Analytical Laboratory and Preparative Laboratory & Stability Testing program. The role is responsible for ensuring that laboratory activities are planned, prioritised and completed efficiently to support the company's API manufacturing, quality control, ongoing stability testing, R&D/new product development and validation activities. A key requirement of the position is the ability to coordinate laboratory workflows, personnel and equipment scheduling to support 2–3 simultaneous API production campaigns per day, while maintaining appropriate GMP standards, data integrity, analytical accuracy and batch delivery times. The QC Manager will lead a team of approximately five laboratory personnel and will be expected to be both a hands‑on technical leader and an effective people manager as well as accomplished and accurate GMP report writing.

Key responsibilities

Lead, supervise and coordinate a team of approximately five laboratory personnel

Allocate daily laboratory activities according to production requirements, testing priorities, personnel capability and available equipment

Establish clear daily and weekly laboratory priorities

Monitor staff workload, productivity, performance and completion of assigned activities

Provide technical guidance, training and mentoring to laboratory staff

Manage laboratory workflow to provide timely analytical support to 2–3 simultaneous API production campaigns per day

Coordinate testing requirements with Production, Quality Assurance, Quality Control and R&D

Develop and maintain an effective equipment booking and scheduling system for coordination between GMP productions & R&D

Oversee all routine analytical testing associated with API manufacturing

Ensure laboratory activities are conducted in accordance with applicable GMP requirements and Phytex Australia quality systems

About you

Degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline

Demonstrated experience managing or supervising a laboratory team

Demonstrated leadership experience managing a team of approximately 5 laboratory personnel

Significant hands‑on analytical laboratory experience

Experience working with HPLC and GC & Moisture Analysis instruments

Experience managing multiple laboratory workflows and competing priorities

Demonstrated ability to schedule laboratory equipment and personnel to meet production deadlines

Experience working within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical, API, chemical or related manufacturing environment

Strong understanding of laboratory documentation, SOPs, specifications and analytical records

Strong organisational and communication skills
