Job summary

Austal Defence Australia (ADA) is seeking a Quality Assurance Adviser to audit and surveil business processes, products and services, and report, investigate and resolve identified non-conformances on projects.

Based in Fremantle, you will apply ISO 9001 QA practices within Austal's shipbuilding and defence environments, develop lessons learnt, and contribute to risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Diploma or recognised equivalency certification in Quality Assurance, Lean Management Engineering or Project Management.
• Previous industry experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
• Experience in manufacturing environments, with a strong desire to work in QA.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and QMS applications in shipbuilding/defence/manufacturing is desirable.
• Eligibility for Defence Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct process audits in accordance with the published audit schedule.
• Conduct surveillance and monitoring activities per quality surveillance schedule.
• Audit Subcontractor quality management systems.
• Develop and recommend actions to address non-conformance raised in the non-conformance register.
• Audit records and documentation offered for acceptance during test activities.
• Assist in maintenance and deployment of QMS documentation.
• Monitor trends in quality performance during issue resolution.
• Conduct root cause investigations and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and disseminate Lessons Learnt.
• Prepare risk assessment documentation in line with quality procedures.

As the Quality Assurance Advisor for Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you’ll be responsible for auditing and conducting project surveillance activities on business processes, products and services and where necessary report, investigate and resolve identified non-conformance.

What’s Involved

• Prepare risk assessment documentation in line with quality procedures

You’ll Need

• Diploma or recognised equivalency certification in Quality Assurance, Lean Management Engineering or Project Management
• Previous industry experience working in Quality Assurance/Quality Control role
• Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment with a demonstrated strong desire to work in Quality Assurance
• Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 9001, and of working within Quality Management systems as they apply to shipbuilding, defence, oil and gas and or manufacturing (desirable)
• Eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance
