Job summary

IMDEX is seeking a proactive QHSE Advisor to build a positive health, safety and environmental culture across the business. You will coordinate, plan and implement QHSE programs, provide expert advice to leaders, and maintain ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 compliance.

You will develop QHSE plans, conduct internal audits, track corrective actions and support regional initiatives, including travel to sites as needed. Strong communication and collaboration across corporate and operations are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma qualifications or higher in Work Health and Safety.
• Further education in Quality or Environment is desirable.
• Experience in Health and Safety environments is required.
• Knowledge of QHSE legislation and ability to develop processes.
• Ability to collaborate across corporate and operational QHSE functions.
• Excellent verbal, written and communication skills and ability to motivate and influence others.

Responsibilities

• Promote and implement the QHSE Management System in line with policies, legislative requirements and industry standards.
• Provide QHSE advice, coaching and support to leaders and employees across regional operations.
• Develop, implement and maintain QHSE plans, procedures, documentation and risk registers.
• Monitor QHSE performance, analyze trends and report on KPIs, risks and improvements.
• Plan and conduct internal audits and support coordination of external audits.
• Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
• Monitor incident reporting and investigations into incidents, near misses and non-conformances.
• Track corrective actions to completion and address non-compliance.
• Support delivery of global and regional QHSE programs and initiatives.
• Manage workplace injuries, workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
• Prepare regional QHSE reports and communicate performance and risks to management.
• Travel to operational sites as required.

The opportunity

The purpose of this position is to build a positive Quality, Healthy, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) culture at IMDEX through the coordination, planning, and implementation of QHSE programs. The QHSE Advisor will provide the business with expertise, advice, leadership and accountability to enhance the success of our business and projects while preventing harm to our workforce and the environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote and implement the QHSE Management System in line with company policies, legislative requirements and industry standards.
• Provide practical QHSE advice, coaching and support to leaders and employees across regional operations.
• Develop, implement and maintain QHSE plans, procedures, documentation and risk registers.
• Monitor QHSE performance, analyse trends and report on key performance indicators, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Plan and conduct internal audits and support the coordination of external audits.
• Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certified management systems.
• Monitor incident reporting and facilitate investigations into incidents, near misses and quality non-conformances.
• Track corrective actions to completion and address or escalation non-compliance.
• Support the delivery of global and regional QHSE programs, projects and initiatives.
• Manage workplace injuries, workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
• Prepare regional QHSE reports and communicate performance, initiatives and emerging risks to management.
• Travel to operational sites as required to support business needs.

To be successful

• Diploma qualifications or above in Work Health and Safety
• Further education in the areas of Quality and/or Environment
• Demonstrated experience working within the Health and Safety environment
• Knowledge and understanding of QHSE legislation and requirements with an ability to develop QHSE processes and procedures
• An ability to work effectively across both corporate and operational QHSE functions and responsibilities
• Excellent verbal, written and communication skills and ability to motive and influence others
