Job summary

Janison is seeking a QA Lead to oversee testing across multiple projects, leading Quality Analysts embedded in agile squads and shaping test strategies for our flagship online assessment platform. You will balance hands-on testing (≈30%) with leadership, test planning and client engagement to ensure quality delivery.

You will own defect management, test reporting and UAT coordination, working with PMs, PO, developers and clients to embed quality across delivery.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software testing, including 5+ years in a QA Lead or Test Lead role.
• Experience managing and coaching multiple QAs across several agile squads.
• Proven ability to own test strategies and test plans across multiple projects.
• Experience managing in-sprint testing within squads and end-to-end testing across squads and systems.
• Experience managing test automation, including frameworks, coverage and CI/CD integration.
• Experience planning and overseeing performance and non-functional testing, using tools such as JMeter or similar.
• Experience planning and managing UAT with clients through to sign-off.
• Strong defect management experience, including triage, prioritisation and tracking.
• Deliver test reporting such as test progress report, test summary report, defect reports.
• Strong client stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience in using test case management tools (TestRail, Xray, Zephyr, etc) and Jira.
• Familiarity with modern browser behaviour, desktop and mobile devices and cross-browser compatibility.
• Hands-on test design, execution and automation skills, with around 30% of time spent hands-on.
• Sound analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Own all testing activities across multiple projects, from planning through to release.
• Define, own and maintain test strategies and test plans, including for projects with multiple application dependencies.
• Set the approach for functional, regression, end-to-end and non-functional testing, aligned to QA standards set by the Head of QA.
• Identify quality risks early and agree mitigations with delivery teams and clients.
• Tailor test approaches to each product’s users, risks and release cadence.
• For our online assessment platform, ensure readiness for high-stakes exam windows, including peak load testing and safeguarding candidate responses.
• Lead, coach and manage Quality Analysts working across multiple squads.
• Allocate QA capacity across projects and squads, balancing priorities and deadlines.
• Set goals, give regular feedback and support the growth of each team member.
• Promote consistent testing practices and knowledge sharing across squads.
• Ensure QAs in each squad embed testing within the sprint, including story refinement, test design and acceptance against criteria.
• Plan and coordinate end-to-end and integration testing across squads and systems.
• Ensure traceability from business and technical requirements to test cases and results.
• Spend around 30% of your time hands-on, designing and executing tests and contributing to test automation.
• Manage the automation approach across projects, including framework choices, coverage targets and CI/CD integration.
• Guide QAs in designing and maintaining automated tests, and review their quality.
• Plan and oversee performance and other non-functional testing for medium to large scale initiatives, and communicate results and risks.
• Plan and manage UAT with clients through to sign-off.
• Own the defect management process, including triage, prioritisation and tracking defects to resolution.
• Produce test progress, test summary and defect reports for internal and client audiences.
• Provide go/no-go quality recommendations for releases.
• Act as the main quality contact for client stakeholders on assigned projects.
• Communicate test scope, progress, risks and outcomes clearly to clients.
• Manage client expectations on quality, UAT and defect resolution.
