Job summary

Maspro Engineering in Sydney is seeking a QA Inspector to join our Quality Assurance team at Wetherill Park. You will inspect machined, welded, assembled, painted and purchased parts to ensure drawings, specifications and quality requirements are met.

Reading engineering drawings, performing dimensional checks and documenting defects with NCRs are core. You will collaborate with production to implement corrective actions and help drive better quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in a quality inspection role within machining, welding and assembly.
• Mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or related technical background.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Understanding of tolerances and GD&T.
• Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach.
• Good computer skills and accurate record keeping.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Confident to raise concerns professionally and work with others.
• Engineering, manufacturing, quality or trade qualification, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct incoming, in-process and final inspections.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and tolerances.
• Complete dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment.
• Identify and document defects and NCRs.
• Prepare inspection plans and reports including First Article Inspection.
• Maintain calibration, gauge and quality records.
• Work with production teams to investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions.

MASPRO is an Australian-owned engineering and manufacturing business specialising in precision-engineered components for the hard-rock mining industry.

We design and manufacture our products in Australia, working closely with our customer to solve problems, improve performance and product high-quality components that keep mining equipment moving.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a QA Inspector to join our Quality Assurance team in Wetherill Park.

This is a hands-on role involving the inspection of manufactured components, including machined, welded, assembled, painted, and purchased parts, to ensure they meet engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.

You’ll need strong attention to detail and a methodical approach, but you’ll also need to work well with people. When you identify an issue, you’ll explain it clearly and work constructively with production teams to resolve it and prevent it happening again. The aim isn’t simply to find faults – it’s to help the team achieve better quality outcomes

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Conduct incoming, first-piece, in-process and final inspections
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and tolerances
• Complete dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment
• Identify and document defects and NCRs
• Prepare inspection plans, inspection reports and First Article Inspection reports
• Maintain accurate calibration, gauge and quality records
• Work with production teams to investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions
• Help reduce repeat issues, scrap and other quality problems

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• Experience in a quality inspection role within a machining, welding and assembly environment
• A mechanical engineering, manufacturing or similar technical background
• The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings
• Experience using prevision measuring equipment
• A sound understanding of tolerances and GD&T
• Strong attention to detail and an organised, methodical approach
• Good computer skills and accurate record keeping
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• The confidence to raise concerns professionally and work constructively with others
• A relevant engineering, manufacturing, quality or trade qualification, or equivalent practical experience

Welding and non-destructive testing knowledge will be highly regarded and will help you settle into the role quickly. However, we’re prepared to train the right person who has strong dimensional inspection skills and the ability to learn.
