Job summary

Zed Technologies in Melbourne is seeking a QA Engineer to own day-to-day software testing, improve regression coverage and help introduce automated testing. You will work with Product and Engineering to test web apps and backend services across CI/CD pipelines, improve test suites and ensure release readiness.

The role requires strong testing skills, experience with Playwright/Cypress/Selenium, API testing and familiarity with Azure DevOps in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with functional, regression, load, integration, API and end-to-end testing.
• Experience preparing and maintaining test cases and regression test suites.
• Experience with test automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or equivalent.
• Technical capability in API/backend testing, including REST APIs, JSON, HTTP and SQL.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps or equivalent.
• Strong defect management, investigation and triage skills.
• Commercial software testing in an Agile development team.

Responsibilities

• Execute functional, regression, integration, load, API and end-to-end tests across web applications and backend services.
• Test changes independently during sprints and support release readiness decisions.
• Record clear test results and elevate risks in a timely manner.
• Review and refresh existing regression suites and improve test coverage.
• Create repeatable test cases with clear steps and expected outcomes.
• Apply risk-based testing to improve coverage and shorten regression cycles.
• Evaluate suitable automation tools and prioritise high-value test scenarios.
• Develop and maintain automated tests for repetitive and critical workflows.
• Work with Engineering to integrate automated checks into CI/CD pipelines.
• Keep defects accurately logged, categorised, reproducible and up to date.
