Job summary

Amazon Web Services Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a junior Associate Corporate Counsel to support AWS’s public sector customers across Australia, New Zealand, and the broader Asia-Pacific region. The role involves negotiating technology contracts, advising on complex agreements, and helping drive compliance and process improvements from Sydney.

Travel is required. The successful candidate will have a law degree, be admitted in Australia or NZ, and at least 2 years of post-admission experience,

Qualifications

• 2+ years of post-admission legal experience at a top national or international law firm, in-house, or government agency, preferably with emerging technology matters (e.g. Intellectual Property, AI/ML, etc.).
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts.
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and advise on a wide range of technology contracts with a focus on Australian and New Zealand public sector customers.
• Assist with responses to bid proposals/tenders.
• Support compliance training and awareness, and work with regulators and policymakers.
• Provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation to business teams on a day-to-day basis.
• Help develop, implement, and manage process improvements across the team.
• Typical transactions will range from standard contracts to complex, high-dollar-value agreements.
