Job summary

The Department of Health, Tasmania is seeking an Epidemiologist to join the Communicable Diseases Prevention Unit. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to collect, analyse and interpret statewide surveillance data and participate in disease outbreak investigations.

You will also help prepare regular and high-level epidemiological reports for a range of stakeholders and maintain surveillance systems, applying your advanced data skills and professional judgement.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification with an epidemiological research component, usually at the postgraduate level.
• Eligible for membership with the Australian Epidemiological Association.
• Experience in communicable disease surveillance and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist statewide collection, analysis and interpretation of surveillance data and participate in disease outbreak investigations.
• Assist in preparing regular and high-level epidemiological reports for stakeholders and management, and in maintaining surveillance systems.
