Job summary

Tasmanian Government’s Department of Health in Tasmania seeks a Lead Epidemiologist to provide surge capacity during outbreaks and public health emergencies. You will lead epidemiological investigations, risk assessments, data collection, analysis and situational reporting.

As part of the Communicable Disease Prevention Unit, you will help develop notifiable disease surveillance, data quality assurance, and cross-source data integration to support timely public health action.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated wide experience in providing epidemiological support services, with advanced skills in conducting investigations and interpreting data.
• Experience using statistical software packages (R, Stata) to extract information and produce quality reports.
• Proven ability to analyse and collate information with strong administrative, organisational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead epidemiological investigations, risk assessments, data collection, analysis, interpretation and situational reporting.
• Develop and enhance case management and contact tracing tools and support data integration from multiple sources.
• Support surveillance and epidemiology activities during high-demand periods to maintain public health response and operations.
