Job summary

Serco at Kapooka Health Centre in NSW seeks an unrestricted AHPRA-registered Psychologist to support Defence members in a primary healthcare setting with no Medicare billing. The role targets part-time hours, delivering high-quality mental health care in a multidisciplinary team.

The position focuses on fitness-for-duty assessments, psychotherapy, and collaborative care planning, with CPD leave and on-site perks. A civilian role within the Defence mission is offered.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted AHPRA general registration as a Psychologist.
• Minimum two years’ postgraduate mental health experience in primary healthcare or specialist mental health.
• Competence in Focused Psychological Strategies and Psychological Therapy per Medicare Schedule.
• Current CPR certification (HLTAID009).
• Australian citizenship required for baseline security clearance.
• Commitment to CPD and ethical patient-centred care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality mental health care to Defence members.

About Kapooka Health Centre

Kapooka Health Centre & Clinic are approximately 10 minutes outside of Wagga Wagga within the Kapooka Military area located at Blamey Barracks. All soldiers in the Army complete Basic Training here, known as the “Home of the Soldier”. These health facilities support the Army Recruit Training Centre (ARTC). It has a 50-bed low dependency ward which operates 24/7. Services provided include primary medical, nursing, dental, mental health, pharmaceutical and physiotherapy. Health Centre staff may be required to work across Wagga & Kapooka. Standard hours of operation are generally 0700-1600 Monday to Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on-call shifts).

This role is primarily Monday to Friday (day shift) within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. After-hours, weekend and on-call shifts may be required depending on role requirements and base location.

What you bring

• Unrestricted AHPRA general registration as a Psychologist
• Minimum two years’ Post Graduate experience within last five yearsin mental health within a Primary Healthcare Setting or Specialist Mental Health Setting
• Comprehensive assessment skills and experience in ‘Focussed Psychological Strategies’ and ‘Psychological Therapy’ as per Medicare Schedule
• Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)
• Australian Citizenshiprequiredfor Baseline Security Clearance
• Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient-centred care
