Job summary

Serco Australia’s Simpson Health Centre in Yallambie, near Melbourne, seeks a Psychologist to support Defence members in a civilian role. You’ll deliver high-quality mental health care in a unique primary healthcare setting with longer appointments and no Medicare billing.

You’ll work in a multidisciplinary team with predictable hours, paid CPD leave, on-site parking, uniforms and wellbeing resources, while contributing to readiness and community health.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted AHPRA general registration as a Psychologist.
• Minimum two years’ post-graduate experience in mental health within primary healthcare or specialist settings.
• Knowledge of Medicare Schedule psychology provisions.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality mental health care to Defence members.
• Conduct fitness-for-duty assessments and pre/post-deployment care.
• Develop and implement assessment, intervention, and care plans for individuals and groups.

About Simpson Health Centre

Simpson Barracks is located at Yallambie (approx. 40 mins North-East of Melbourne CBD). Predominately a Forces Command training base supporting Defence Force School of Signals (tri-service technicians & operators, electronic warfare systems), Defence Force School of Music (tri-service musicians) and Army Education Centre. The Army base services approximately 6000 Defence members and operates a 9 bed low dependency ward 24/7. The health centre also provides primary medical, nursing, physiotherapy, dental and mental health services. Standard operating hours are generally 07:30 – 15:30 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on-call shifts).

What You’ll Do

• Deliver high-quality mental health care to Defence members
• Conducting fitness-for-duty assessments and pre/post-deployment care.
• Undertaking assessments, interventions, formulating treatment and care plans for individuals and group education sessions
• Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary clinical environment where patient wellness is paramount

What You Bring

• Unrestricted AHPRA general registration as a Psychologist
• Minimum two years’ Post Graduate experience within last five years in mental health within a Primary Healthcare Setting or Specialist Mental Health Setting
• Comprehensive assessment skills and experience in "Focussed Psychological Strategies" and "Psychological Therapy" as per Medicare Schedule
• Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)
• Australian Citizenship required for Baseline Security Clearance
• Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient-centred care
