Job summary

Laing O’Rourke in the Hunter Valley, NSW, is seeking a Protection Officer – Level 2 for Rail Operations. This role offers career prospects within a privately-owned tier 1 constructor and international engineering enterprise.

You will work proactively to ensure rail safety standards, instruct workers on protection arrangements, and coordinate with signalers, with a focus on local Newcastle/Hunter region.

About the role

We are currently seeking a Protection Officer – Level 2 for Rail Operations in the Hunter Valley, NSW. This role offers great career prospects with a privately-owned tier 1 constructor and international engineering enterprise.

Key responsibilities

• Be able to work proactively and autonomously to ensure that all rail network safetystandards and policies are met.
• Instructing workers about safe places, protection arrangements, safety measures.
• Maintain all safe working systems and ensure network rules and procedures are correctly executed for safe operations of work within the rail corridor.
• Communication with signaler's about protection arrangements.
• AdHoc requirement to perform Track worker tasks on ALTC mining projects.

About you

• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Sound knowledge of track side safety standards.
• Knowledge of operational procedures including train notices and isolation protection procedures.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and people management skills.
• Hold a valid Construction Induction (White Card) & Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card.
• Valid Drivers Licence Class ‘C’ or ‘HR’.

Preference of local people to Newcastle & Hunter region – no relocation assistance provided.
